16-Month-Old Baby Killed with Mother in Highway 20 Crash

A mother and her 16-month-old baby were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Sutter California Monday night.

It was just before 10:30 p.m. when the accident occurred on Highway 20 at Acacia Avenue.

Maria Flores Soto, 25, and her baby, Andres Ambriz, were in a Chevrolet Trailblazer when a Chevrolet pickup truck veered into their lane.

This caused a head-on collision between the two, sadly killing the mother and her child.

A 15-year-old passenger in the pickup truck was also hospitalized with major injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was also impaired at the time of the crash and attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody. He has been charged with DUI causing death, attempting to flee the scene of a crash, child endangerment and gross vehicular manslaughter.
