A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck on Highway 49 near Bethel Church Way in Grass Valley on Tuesday night, October 21, 2025. According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 9:30 p.m. to a stretch of the highway near a local church. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of the family.

CHP reports indicate the pickup driver remained on site and cooperated with investigators. At this stage, DUI does not appear to be a factor.
