The Sacramento County Sheriff’s office reported a deadly pedestrian crash in Rancho Cordova last Friday night.

Just minutes before 11 p.m., a man ID’d as Kevin Allen Burgess, 58, was struck by a vehicle on Highway 50.

The incident took place within the westbound lanes.

It is unclear at this time what caused the crash.

Sadly, Burgess died at the scene despite life-saving measures.

An active investigation remains underway.

California has the highest pedestrian fatality rate which is 25% higher than the national average.
