Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash Reported in Oakland, California

An unidentified 100-year-old man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Oakland on Sunday morning.

It was just after 7 a.m. when the incident took place at 19th and Harrison Street.

The driver failed to yield and hit the victim as he was crossing.

Paramedics transported the man to the hospital where he sadly died.

Authorities are still in search of the suspect that fled the scene after the accident.

California has the highest pedestrian fatality rate which is 25% higher than the national average.
