According to initial reports, Santa Barbara County Fire personnel, Lompoc Fire Department crews, and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded around 5:45 p.m. The crash involved two sedans; one vehicle may have rolled over. One person sustained major injuries and was airlifted by CalStar to Marian Regional Medical Center. A second person with minor injuries was transported to a hospital in Santa Maria. Southbound lanes of Highway 1 were temporarily closed, and debris affected northbound traffic during the response and cleanup. CHP officers from Buellton are investigating the circumstances of the collision. As authorities continue to gather facts, no determination of fault has been released.
