Multiple people were killed in a wrong-way collision Monday evening in Imperial County.
Just minutes after 7:30 p.m., a Tesla was traveling east in the westbound lanes on the Interstate 8.
This caused a head-on crash with an Acura near Forrester Road.
Both drivers and a passenger in the Tesla sadly died as a result.
Identities are being withheld at this time pending notification of kin.
Further details will be provided once an investigation is concluded.
While head-on collisions account for just 2% of all motor-vehicle accidents, they make up 10% of all fatal accidents.
These types of crashes are most common on two-lane highways and more than half result in a fatality.
