A head-on collision on Highway 84 in Sunol caused major traffic delays on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred just east of the northbound Interstate 680 Freeway, in the eastbound lanes of State Route 84. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place around 4:07 a.m. on April 19th. Two vehicles were involved in the accident, and both drivers were injured.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, and an investigation is ongoing. However, it is clear that the collision caused significant damage to both vehicles, and emergency responders had to cut into one of the vehicles to extract the driver. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
In the aftermath of the accident, traffic on Highway 84 was backed up for miles in both directions. The road was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the collision. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes or to allow extra time for their commutes.
Accidents like this one are a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices. All too often, accidents are caused by drivers who are distracted, drowsy, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or simply driving too fast for the conditions. The consequences of these accidents can be devastating, not only for the drivers involved but also for their families and loved ones.
