Fatal Semi-Truck and Pickup Collision Near Lamont, Kern County Leaves One Dead and One Injured
A tragic collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck near Lamont in Kern County claimed the life of a passenger and left a driver injured early Monday morning, December 29, 2025. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:40 a.m. at the four-way intersection of South Edison Road and Hermosa Road.
Authorities report that a 2016 white International semi-tractor was traveling southbound on South Edison Road as a 1992 white Toyota pickup approached from the east and stopped at the four-way intersection on Hermosa Road. For reasons still under investigation, both vehicles entered the intersection nearly simultaneously, and the front of the Toyota collided with the left side of the semi-tractor. The force of the impact caused the pickup to rotate and come to rest within the intersection.
The driver of the Toyota and his passenger suffered moderate to major injuries and were transported to Kern Medical. The passenger, identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as 42-year-old Esther D. of Arvin, tragically succumbed to her injuries. The semi-truck driver was not injured and cooperated with investigators. CHP has indicated that alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
