A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a collision on the southbound 280 Freeway near 7th Street in San Jose on Thursday evening. The crash, which occurred at approximately 5:23 p.m., involved a Kawasaki motorcycle and a white SUV, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
First responders arrived on scene to find the motorcyclist lying on the roadway. A good Samaritan in a black pickup truck reportedly stopped to shield the injured rider from oncoming traffic until emergency crews could take over. The motorcyclist was then transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly disclosed.
