A tragedy unfolded over the weekend in San Rafael, California when a 30-year-old man lost his life in a fatal wrong-way crash on Highway 101. Jay Fred King III, a Novato resident, was identified as the victim in the incident.
According to reports, the crash occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 22, 2023. King was traveling on the highway when his vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver. The driver, who was under the influence of alcohol, was driving in the opposite direction on the same side of the highway as King.
King suffered serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The wrong-way driver, who has not been identified, was taken into custody and is facing charges for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
