One person was killed in a head-on collision in San Marcos last Thursday.
At about 7 in the morning the accident took place on South Rancho Santa Fe Road.
It was reported that a vehicle crossed over the center divider, causing a crash with a Lincoln sedan driven by Juan Carlos Camacho.
The 53-year-old man was rushed to Palomar Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:38 a.m.
An active investigation remains underway.
While head-on collisions account for just 2% of all motor-vehicle accidents, they make up 10% of all fatal accidents.
These types of crashes are most common on two-lane highways and more than half result in a fatality.
