An 8-year-old boy was injured and his grandfather was killed in a traffic collision on Monday in Phelan, California.
The tragic accident occurred on January 9th near Sheep Creek and Phelan Roads.
Franklin Robinson, 73, was driving a Nissan Frontier when he came to a stop at the intersection.
A semi-truck reportedly failed to slow down in time, causing it to crash into the back of Robinson’s truck.
The impact caused the Nissan to be pushed into the back of a big rig, sadly killing Robinson at the scene.
His 8-year-old grandson was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
An active investigation remains underway.
Occupants of passenger vehicles are more likely to be seriously injured after colliding with trucks due to the difference in weight between the vehicles.
These types of accidents are often caused by the braking capability of trucks.
