Tragedy struck in South Los Angeles on April 13th, 2023, when Inmer Samuel Cruz lost his life in a fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident at the intersection of Main Street and 43rd Street. The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. and according to the Los Angeles Police Department, it involved a hit-and-run driver.
The victim was only 23 years old when he lost his life, leaving his family devastated and the community in shock. Although the incident occurred weeks ago, this week, the police released a video of the hit-and-run collision, hoping to gather more information and ultimately bring the driver responsible to justice.
Unfortunately, accidents like these are not uncommon, and bicyclists are particularly vulnerable on roadways. In 2019, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 846 bicyclists lost their lives on U.S. roads, and while the number is a decrease from the previous year, it highlights the need for improved safety measures.
As a law firm that cares about the safety and wellbeing of our community, Avian Law Group urges drivers to be aware of their surroundings and share the road with bicyclists. It is vital to give cyclists enough room and be mindful of their presence, especially when making turns or changing lanes.
We also urge anyone with information about the Inmer Samuel Cruz hit-and-run to come forward and speak with the authorities. By working together, we can ensure that justice is served, and prevent similar tragedies from happening in the future.
At Avian Law Group, we have worked with many victims of bicycle accidents, helping them get the compensation they deserve for their losses and injuries. But we recognize that no amount of compensation can make up for the loss of a loved one. That is why we are here to offer our support to those affected by this tragedy, and to fight for a safer future for all members of our community.
