Critical injuries were sustained in a DUI collision on Monday evening in Oceanside.
Nick Cardenas, 23, was riding his motorcycle on State Route 76 when an impaired driver struck him.
It was reported that the driver ran a red light at the intersection which caused the accident.
It was around 6:15 p.m. when the incident occurred, causing Cardenas to be ejected form his bike.
His helmet flew off as a result, leaving him with several broken bones and brain trauma.
The rider was hospitalized in a coma.
Robert Shuey, the driver, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
